The Youth Dialogue Forum extends its congratulations to the Libyan people on the successful municipal elections held on Saturday, 16 August 2025, across 26 municipalities. The elections witnessed broad public participation, with more than 160,000 citizens casting their votes, representing 71% of registered voters. This significant turnout clearly reflects the determination of Libyans and their commitment to exercising their right to choose their representatives through the ballot box despite the difficult circumstances facing the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Forum also commends the prominent role played by the High National Elections Commission in managing the electoral process despite the security and logistical challenges. It further emphasizes the importance of the recommendations contained in the Advisory Committee\u2019s report regarding the reform of the legal framework governing the High National Elections Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, the Forum strongly condemns the attacks that targeted several electoral administration offices in Az-Zawiya, the Western Coast region, and Zliten, stressing that such desperate attempts will not weaken the determination of Libyans nor halt their path toward democracy and peaceful change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Forum stresses the importance of completing the electoral process in the municipalities where voting was postponed, and resuming the process in municipalities where it was suspended, in order to guarantee all citizens the exercise of their constitutional right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In conclusion, the Youth Dialogue Forum salutes the awareness and active role of citizens\u2014especially young people\u2014in these elections, and calls on them to continue their positive and constructive participation in shaping the future of their country, ensuring that their voices remain a tool for change, reform, and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
