Libyan Youth Present Their Vision to the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General
The President and members of the Youth Political Dialogue Forum held a meeting today with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Ms. Hanna Tetteh, in the presence of the Forum Coordinator and a group of national youth representatives from various Libyan cities and regions. The meeting took place as part of the activities of the National Consultative Meeting to discuss the future of the political process in Libya.
During the meeting, Ms. Tetteh reviewed the efforts of the UN mission and the various options for the proposed roadmap that she intends to present during her briefing to the Security Council on 21 August. She emphasized that Libya’s stability and safe transition cannot be achieved without genuine and effective participation from its youth.
For their part, the participants stressed the importance of ensuring that the roadmap includes real guarantees to end the transitional phases and pave the way for a stable and sustainable period that enables Libyans to determine their future through free and fair elections.
In conclusion, the Forum President, Mr. Imad Shneib, affirmed that today’s meeting reflects the active presence of Libyan youth and their determination to assume their national responsibilities. He reiterated the Forum’s commitment to providing free and effective spaces for dialogue in order to ensure meaningful and influential youth participation in shaping the future of Libya.
